On January 1, 2022, Xinjiang regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP) officially entered into force. As of January 30, Urumqi customs has issued 11 RCEP certificates of origin, with a value of 586700 US dollars. With these certificates, enterprises can enjoy tariff reduction or exemption from importing countries.

RCEP officially entered into force in 10 member states of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia on January 1, 2022, and entered into force in South Korea on February 1, 2022, which is the largest free trade agreement signed by China. The population, GDP and total trade volume of RCEP member countries account for about 30% of the world. It is a free trade zone with the largest population, the largest economic and trade scale and the most potential for development in the world. After the implementation of RCEP, the scale of tariff reduction has been further expanded, and the declaration of origin of approved exporters has brought more convenience to enterprises.

In January this year, 11 RCEP certificates of origin were issued in Xinjiang. The main export products were tomato paste, dried red dates, dried apricot, raisin, cotton towel, aluminum foil, high activity dry yeast, etc., which were exported to Japan, New Zealand and other RCEP countries.

A textile and garment enterprise in Xinjiang is the first enterprise in Xinjiang to obtain RCEP certificate of origin exported to Japan. More than 10000 cotton towels and bath towels exported to Japan enjoy zero tariff policy, which has stabilized export orders for enterprises and enhanced the international competitiveness of products.

Guo Yonggang, director of the customs and Excise Department of Urumqi customs, said that in order to help enterprises make good use of the new opportunities of RCEP and select the best certificate of origin of FTA, Urumqi customs has carried out RCEP policy publicity for enterprises, and has also provided "one-to-one" services to relevant enterprises to help enterprises successfully apply for RCEP certificate of origin. In the next step, the customs will continue to strengthen policy research and policy propaganda, maximize the advantages of RCEP policy, help Xinjiang enterprises make good use of RCEP policies and improve the international competitiveness of their products.
